A 3 bedroom 2 bath A frame cabin on 2.2 acres. Nestled into Daniel Boone National Forest, this area boasts a fantastic outdoor adventure getaway. Rent a boat and enjoy fishing, swimming, and water sports on Cave Run Lake with the nearest dock 5 minutes away. Hike and see some of the best views in Kentucky in the beautiful Red River Gorge 25 minutes south. End your day relaxing in a cozy cabin with your favorite people! Space heaters for winter.
The Space:
Inside:
In the front door, the living room has a large couch and chair for seating with an electric fireplace under the TV. There is ROKU equipped with guest mode. The dining area has 4 chairs at the dining room table and 3 bar stools at the counter near the kitchen. The kitchen has a refrigerator, microwave, electric stove, utensils, pots, pans, etc allowing you to cook and enjoy food with your family. There is a coffee maker that makes single cups and/or a pot that will have 6 coffee pods, basic sugar, and basic cream to start. Any additional coffee needs, the guest will need to provide. The main bath and laundry are off of the kitchen beside the back door. The bathroom has a shower tub. The main bedroom, off the living room, has a king size bed with a dresser, mirror, and closet. There is an en suite bathroom with a stand up shower. Up the stairs to the left there is a bedroom that is not fully enclosed (refer to twin beds picture). Two twin beds that lead out to a screened in back porch. To the right from the stairs, you will find the double bed room with a dresser and a walk out porch that is not screened in.
In the winter you will have to start the propane heater to heat the cabin. The tanks are on the outside which will need to be turned on. At low temperatures it is possible that drains and water lines will freeze during the winter months.
Outside:
There is a main porch off the back door, a side porch down the stairway, and an outdoor bar with seating. Straight back from the outdoor bar area is a fire pit. From the back porch, the disc golf basket is to the left on the hill. For parking, the drive is STEEP. A 4x4 is recommended but you may park off to the side of the road to avoid the driveway if needed.
Guest Access:
You will have access to all indoor areas of the cabin. You can explore the woods but do not more than 50 feet to the left of the disc golf basket as that property belongs to the neighbor. Be aware of snakes and other wild life if exploring the wooded area. There will be at least one of the following items provided at your stay: toilet paper (2), paper towel (1), trash bag (2), coffee pods (6), cream, sugar, laundry detergent pods (2), body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, dish soap, and basic cleaning supplies. All additional items will need to be provided by the guest.
The Neighborhood:
Whitts Acres Lane has several other cabins near ours. It is a one lane road. There are a few people that live in this area full time. Please be respectful of others when driving and when on/around the property.
Getting Around:
Our cabin is the last cabin on the left on the hook shaped road. The driveway is STEEP so we recommend a 4x4 to comfortably drive out. At the end of the road, there is an area off to the side that you can park if you do not feel comfortable with the driveway. The turn around area is very narrow so navigating a boat/trailer would be considered VERY difficult but has been done. If a boat is brought to the property it must sit to the side of the road.
Other Things to Note:
There are board/card games and disc golf discs in the upper cabinets near the dining area. Please keep air conditioning above 68 and heat below 75. Lowering the temperature does not cool the area faster and raising the temperature does not heat up the area faster. The propane heater is available for the winter months alongside the electric heaters on the wall, the fireplace heater, and additional heaters in the closet at the top of the stairs. There is a baby gate that can be used for the top of the stairs in the same closet. There is a pack-n-play in the main bedroom. No smoking on the property or in the cabin. If there is any sign of smoking on the property there will be an additional $100 cleaning fee and upwards of $1000+ damage fee if any furniture or portion of the cabin is damaged. If you must smoke, please do so off the property at the top of the driveway away from the cabin and dispose of any butts in the trash and not on the property.
Please note during the winter months, with the freezing temperatures, the cabin will be cold upon your arrival. We will be able to remotely control the electric infrared heaters but it will not get the whole cabin up to temperature. We are not able to turn on the propane heaters prior as it is a fire risk. As soon as you arrive and get the propane heater turned on, the cabin will warm up quickly. It is possible that pipes will freeze at low temperatures as it is a cabin. If this happens, please notify us and promptly use space heaters in those areas to thaw the pipes.
