The space
This beautifully restored home sleeps 5 in the main cabin and 2 more in the little detatached private cabin.
The cabin pine logs date back to the 1890’s. The log home originally was a duplex with two families living in it. The logs where all moved from Woodstock, Virginia roughly 30 years ago and the home was completely restored.
The house sits on roughly 20 acres of woods and a stream. It is very private and very quiet since your closest neighbor is acres away.
There is no well on the property. All the water comes from mother nature’s rain water in a 2500-gallon cistern tank underground. The water is great for everything except drinking. Please refrain from taking long showers and conserve water the best you can. The cabin has a full bathroom upstairs and also features a beautiful outhouse outside.
The cabin has central AC and central heat and, for those cool days and nights, a beautiful wood stove.
The kitchen is well stocked, as the owner is a chef. Feel free to make use any of the dry goods and spices!
The property includes a large 25’ deck on the rear of the house with spectacular views of the Potomac Highlands, a wood-fired outdoor brick oven in case you would like try to make some pizzas, charcoal grill on a finished patio, outside kitchen, horseshoe pits, a large fire pit, goldfish pond and an additional small cabin on the property that has satellite TV but no running water.
Enjoy hikes in the woods, strolls on the roads or just enjoy quiet time on the front porch with a glass of wine.
Guest access
Guests have the entire property privately to themselves. There will be some locked sheds and doors that are used for maintenance and the owners private belongings.
Other things to note
This is a beautifully restored historical cabin in a remote, yet conveniently accessed location in the Mountains of West Virginia. Perfect for a nature getaway! Be aware that water should be conserved, conveniences are a minimum of 30-45min away so come prepared, and 4wd/AWD will be necessary in winter conditions. Basically, it’s Almost Heaven!
