Welcome to The Gathering Place Retreat Center! My hope is that you will find my home a place to pull away from your cares and busy lives for a quiet time of rest and relaxation in a country setting. A time to draw closer to our Creator and a time to quiet your soul in a country setting enjoying the simple pleasures of life. And whether it’s watching the early morning mist rising off the pond, rocking on the front porch while watching the deer and other wildlife, hiking our nature trails, fishing the stocked pond, or simply sitting on the dock in quiet reflection; we specialize in keeping life simple. This is a place where you can listen to the silence and count the stars all the while enjoying the comforts and conveniences we all have come to enjoy.
We are only a mile off a major highway on a country road giving you quick access back to several major highways including 54 Hwy and I49, But we are far enough from the nearest small town (6 miles) that you can see the stars instead of the street lights. And listen to the coyotes howl at night , the peepers peeping and the frogs croaking down at the pond and sit around the fire pit with your family and tell about going to grandma's house when you were a kid. Let yourself enjoy the simplicity of life in the country even if it is only for a few days!
The Gathering Place Retreat Center is a log sided home located in the center of 60 acres in rural southwest Missouri. The home has three bedrooms with two full baths and a utility room with washer and dryer and also is a partial bath. . We have an open loft area that overlooks the dining area and great room below and lots of open windows throughout. The great room has a stone fireplace which is great for those cold evenings when you want to enjoy the warmth of a wood fire. The home is decorated with a lodge theme and has many family heirlooms and antiques throughout including quilts, dishes and family pictures. We have wireless internet for your convenience. Sorry, but we do not have a hot tub on the premises.
We are not handicap accessible but the main floor has a Master Suite with a queen size bed and is decorated with antiques passed down from family ancestry. It has it's own spacious bath with a jetted tub and walk in shower and has an outside entrance so you can sit on the steps and watch the stars. It also has a flat screen TV with satellite for those late night movies. This bedroom is great for those with issues with climbing stairs and need a room on the main floor.
Our Loft area has two additional bedrooms with queen beds and is also decorated with a lodge theme. There is also two more beds in the open area of the loft giving you sleeping arrangements for eight making it the perfect place for small groups wanting a place to have ladies slumber parties, quilting parties, scrap-booking parties or small family reunions. This area has a full bath and also a flat screen TV with satellite. From the loft you can look down below to the great room and dining room or watch the wildlife from the large open windows. We do ask that children under age 12 not be allowed in the loft area for safety reasons. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
For short term reservations we ask that our guests check in anytime after 2:00 pm unless arrangements have been made prior to your arrival. . If you will not be arriving by 6 please advise us of your approx arrival time. We do have a two day minimum stay. We charge $300.00 per night and can sleep ten . We have five beds total. Children are limited as they can only stay in the downstairs bedroom and not in the loft area due to liability issues. Thank you for your understanding of that policy.
We charge a $100.00 cleaning fee.
Sorry, we do not allow pets or smoking inside our facilities. You may smoke on the porch and ash trays are provided.
We have a private apartment in the basement and although it is not accessible to guests we do open it in the event of severe weather. No one will be in that apartment during your stay. I live in town but am available at all times during your stay.
We do have four security cameras that are on recording both video and audio at all times. One is on the front porch by the front door, one is on the front porch covering the entrance stairs, one is over the garage covering the drive and one is on the north patio covering the north entrance to the private basement entrance. There are no cameras on the inside of the premises.
Come spend some time in our home and enjoy the beauty of 60 acres with a stocked pond, dock for fishing or just watching the wildlife, nature trails, covered porch with lots of sitting, deck for laying in the sun, BBQ grills and fire pit and friendly wildlife wandering around the grounds. We do not allow hunting on the property and have feeders where you will see deer, turkey, fox and other wildlife on a daily basis. Bring your family or small group and spend some time in the country! We are a place where your cares can be set aside even for a short while and where memories can be made.
Just a reminder. We are a retreat where our guests can come to get away from their busy lives and enjoy some peace and quiet in a country setting. We also have a small cabin next door to the main house and an extended stay guest house on the grounds both of which stay rented out to traveling nurses who many times work nights and sleep days. So even though you may book the main house please be respectful of other guests staying on the property. Please do not book with us if your activities are not in keeping with our policy of this being a facility where our guests enjoy peace and quiet. Only registered guests can be on the property without prior approval from management. Thank you for your understanding.
